All done watching/thinking about eclipses? Good! Now come talk trash with me tonight with the National Council of Jewish Women of Michigan! This Zoom event is free and open to the public – all you have to do is register with this link. We are DEFINITELY going to have a great time so log on tonight at 7PM when we will be solving the Plastic Waste Crisis , probably.
Got 8 minutes? Check out This awesome interview with my friend, the illustrious John Wagner which aired Friday on 21AliveNews in Indiana! Special thanks to the amazing Three Rivers Natural Grocery in Fort Wayne for hosting us and letting us gawk at their plastic.
Okay, it’s cable access TV. But still. I got to wear a microphone. In the first episode I sit down to talk No Garbage with my friend Andrew McKeever. Rewatching it, I realize we cover A LOT of ground in this 30 minute studio interview!
In the second, ten minute episode, we head over to the actual transfer station to see the sometimes messy results when the rubber meets the road. I was amazed to realize how much the rules can vary between different transfer stations— you’re saying they accept PLASTIC BAGS filled with SHREDDED PAPER?I’m gonna need a minute, people. — This is one of the significant sources of recycling confusion- lack of consistent, effective guidelines.
PS: for the record, I don’t agree with the statements the transfer station manager makes about needing to find more places for old plastic to go- grinding up old tires or styrofoam to make ANYTHING is going to be a super toxin in whatever environment it ends up in. Period.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! I have a very busy EARTH MONTH April coming up and you never know – perhaps I’ll be in found your neighborhood rooting through the wishcycling!
